Today my husband Don and I explored the area north of Truckee, driving past the Boca Lake (reservoir) and along the road which follows the Upper Truckee River northish.  The river flows out of the Stampede reservoir, which is currently closed for repair.  (Apparently they are raising the level of the reservoir 11 feet to accommodate a larger water supply).  We were hoping to see an American dipper.  No such luck on that regard, but we did discover a beautiful meadow along the river with wildflowers and birds, and we saw a couple trout fishermen in the area as well.

Today I added 4 species to my Tahoe Big Year list.
